Dr William Boothe Lasik Surgery
The first patent of invention for LASIK was accorded by the United States Patent and Trademark Office to Gholam A. Peyman, Doctor of Medicine on June 20, 1989, United States Patent #4,840,175, "TECHNIQUE FOR MODIFYING CORNEAL CURVE", drawing the surgical operation in which a flap is split in the cornea and backed away to uncover the corneal bed. This revealed opencut is then subtracted to the wanted mould with an excimer optical maser, following which the flap is substituted. [Dr. William Boothe]
Employing these progressions in optical maser technology and the theoretical and technical developings in refractile surgical process made since the 50's, LASIK surgical procedure was built up in 1990 by Lucio Buratto (Italy) and Ioannis Pallikaris (Greece) as a blending of 2 preceding methods, keratomileusis and photorefractive keratectomy. It speedily became fashionable because of its bigger preciseness and lower frequence of ramifications in comparing with these previous two methods.[Dr Boothe]
